We work closely with a number of the UK’s leading charities who use our Travel Partner places as a way of securing guaranteed places in the ING New York City Marathon®. It is not compulsory to run for charity to secure a place – you can simply buy a package and run for fun – but we encourage runners to make good use of the high profile nature of their marathon place to raise funds for a charity.
Most of the charities listed below are working closely with 2:09 Events and have supporting ‘Marathon Programmes’ with training plans, social activities and fund raising ideas to help you in your preparation. You can run for your personal charity if it is not listed and simply contact them once you have boooked and have a confirmed place.

The National Autistic Society is the UK's leading charity for people affected by autism. Over 500,000 people in the UK have autism. Together with their families they make up over two million people whose lives are touched by autism every single day. Despite this, autism is still relatively unknown and misunderstood. Which means that many of these two million people get nothing like the level of help, support and understanding they need. Together, we are going to change this.

Deforestation and the destruction of rainforests are major contributing factors in the build-up of CO2 emissions and the warming of our planet. The main focus of the work of the Rainforest Foundation UK is to protect and save the rainforests by working with those who know the forest best – indigenous peoples and traditional forest dwellers. By supporting them, we're taking a major step forward in the battle to combat climate change and ensure the protection of rainforests for years to come.
